AEB: ’Dit jaar ...50... miljoen extra nodig’

Het Afval Energie Bedrijf (AEB), dat vorig jaar... tachtig miljoen... euro van de gemeente kreeg, heeft dit jaar... nog... vijftig miljoen nodig. Dat blijkt uit een schrijven van de directie van AEB die naar het gemeentebestuur is verstuurd.

De brief, die na een... Wob-verzoek... van De Telegraaf openbaar is gemaakt, dateert van 15 september. De directie van AEB stelt dat „voor 2020 nog een additionele liquiditeitsverbetering nodig is van vijftig miljoen euro ter dekking van ...terugbetalings- en aflossingsverplichtingen aan financiers, alsmede enige noodzakelijke investeringen.”...

AEB kwam afgelopen zomer in zwaar weer toen... vier van de zes... ovens werden ...stilgelegd... na ...aanhoudende... technische problemen. De ...veiligheid... kwam serieus in het gedrang. Volgens AEB is de optelsom van de... liquiditeitsbehoefte... tot eind 2020... 124... miljoen. Dan is al rekening gehouden met de in werking gezette reorganisatie en de ’reeds optredende positieve financiële effecten’.

De directie van AEB liet in dezelfde brief weten ’buitengewoon teleurgesteld en ontgoocheld’ te zijn toen het college onderhandelingen met afvalverwerker... Beelen... afbrak en met de Noord-Hollandse afvalverbrander... HVC... ging praten. AEB was daarvan niet op de hoogte. Die laatste onderhandelingen zijn inmiddels gestaakt. Momenteel wordt onderzocht welke onderdelen van AEB ...verkocht... kunnen worden. Momenteel wordt bijvoorbeeld nog volop gebouwd aan een ...biomassacentrale... Die investering bedraagt zo’n ...58 miljoen euro...

Storm, flooding misery follow bushfires in Australia

Thunderstorms and torrential rain have wreaked havoc in the fire-devastated states of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
Despite the wet weather, hundreds of blazes continue to burn and many areas remain dry.

Torrential rains and thunderstorms caused further misery for Australians in states already suffering from devastating bushfires.
Several major highways were cut off, while theme parks closed in southeastern Queensland after some of the heaviest rain in months fell in the state. Local media showed video footage of dozens of vehicles being swept away in flash flooding.
Standing water reached 330 millimeters (13 inches) in some areas and Australia's Bureau of Meteorology tweeted that over 100 millimeters of rain was expected to fall across the night and early Saturday morning in many other locations.
The Bureau of Meteorology for Queensland also told drivers to "take care on the roads — if it's flooded, forget it."
