Russia's embarrassing Siegfried line in Ukraine, gets more farcical.

Now they've attached chains to them, making it far easier for Ukrainian forces to drag them out of the way. These tank traps aren't even secured to the ground, so they can be pushed aside by a digger.

Ukraine Has a Secret Resistance Operating Behind Russian Lines

Modern-day Ukrainian partisans are quietly working to undermine the occupation.

Mykhailo said that for Ukrainians, after the initial shock of the attacks of Feb. 24, these local civil-defense networks began to connect with one another. “On the first day, people were shocked because there were rockets falling and their targeting was not precise, so everything was hit. After the first two days of shock, people realized we needed to resist. They started coming together in their groups,” he said.

Initially, organizers like Mykhailo, many of whom are military veterans with experience in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and now work in collaboration with both Ukraine’s military and security service in Kyiv, began to focus on coordinating the flow of information. They were tasked with figuring out what was being attacked, where weapons were required, and how to get them there. In occupied places like Sumy and Kharkiv, where street fighting broke out with Russian forces, the defense networks relied mainly on former soldiers, who sometimes still bore injuries from their earlier service, to fight back. “These guys know how to use weapons, RPGs, things like that. They trained in the Soviet army, so they know the tactics of Russia. We made networks, connected people, but they often used their own circles separately. Entire families got involved,” Mykhailo said.

Israel may transfer high-precision ballistic missiles to Ukraine if the Russian Federation receives Iranian ones

Israel has protested against Russia’s use of Iranian drones in the war against Ukraine. Israel has also warned the Russian Federation that in case of receiving Iranian ballistic missiles, high-precision missiles may also appear in Ukraine.

This was reported by the local TV channel “Kan-11” with reference to its own sources.

Journalists emphasized that the protest was expressed in several conversations between Israel’s ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov.

In these dialogues, Israel also warned Russian officials about the consequences of Russia’s acquisition of Iranian ballistic missiles.

The journalists also reported that the head of Israel’s National Security Council, Eyal Hulata, “warned Russia against this step and warned that if the spread of Iranian missiles is not stopped, it may lead to the appearance of high-precision ballistic missiles in Ukraine.”

As previously covered, in mid-October, Washington Post journalists informed that Iran planned to transfer short- and medium-range ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation. This regarded the Iranian Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles. They are capable of striking targets at distances of 300 and 700 kilometers, respectively.

Subsequently, CNN journalists confirmed that the transfer of missiles was being prepared and might take place by the end of the year.

Against the background of this news, Ukraine addressed Israel with an official request to provide anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense systems. Israel responded that it would not provide weapons, but will help with the alert system.

There is currently no information on the Russian Federation obtaining ballistic missiles. However, cooperation between the Russian Federation and Iran in the transfer of weapons has already been confirmed.

Iran admitted that it provided Russia with its drones, but assures that this happened even before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

Twelve settlements in Luhansk region already under control of Ukrainian Army

Ukrainian Armed Forces already liberated twelve settlements from the Russian invasion forces in the Luhansk region.

This was announced on the live broadcast of the United News telethon by Colonel Serhii Cherevaty, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, the initiative in the Luhansk region is on the side of Ukraine.

“In the Luhansk region, the enemy is defeated. There are already 12 settlements under the Ukrainian flag. <…> we have initiative there,” the speaker said.

According to him, after defeats in several main directions and the failure of strategic plans, Russia wants to win at least somewhere.

US Orders Probe After Western Components Found in Iranian Drones: Report

The US government has ordered a probe after Western, Japanese, and Israeli components were found in downed Iranian drones in Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Citing intelligence documents, the outlet estimated that three-quarters of the components were found to be American-made, despite Tehran being subjected to harsh sanctions.

The aim of the sanctions is largely to prevent the country from developing nuclear weapons but includes other arms development such as drones.

Japanese Components Found

Ukrainian investigators also found Japanese components in Iranian Mohajer-6 drones captured intact after being hacked mid-flight.

Nearly a third of the drone’s components were of Japanese origin, while roughly half were manufactured by US firms. The findings were revealed and verified by Kyiv-based nonprofit the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (NAKO), which also inspected the drone.

The servomotors in the Mohajer-6 drone, essential to maneuver the aircraft, were made by Japanese firm Tonegawa-Seiko Co., according to the intelligence documents and NAKO report.

Third-Party Distributors

Similarly, several electronic components of the drone were manufactured by German-owned Infineon Technologies AG and Arizona-based Microchip Technology Inc., two of the most prominent global chip manufacturers.

A spokesman for Microchip, Brian Thorsen, told The Wall Street Journal, “without access to the device itself, we are unable to advise whether it is a Microchip product or counterfeit product and if it is a Microchip product, how it ended up in this particular application.”

He said that the company supplies its products to more than 120,000 customers in the industrial, aerospace, defense, and other sectors, adding that third-party distributors also sell its products worldwide.

Israeli Infrared Lens in Iranian Drone?

The outlet also claimed that the Mohajer’s high-resolution telescopic infrared lens looks identical to a model made by Ophir Optronics Solutions Ltd., a Jerusalem-based firm, citing the device image and company brochures.

The company’s parent organization, MKS Instruments Inc., said they don’t supply to Iran.

The Israeli government responded to the report following a review, saying that “the relevant international export control regimes indicate that the lens is neither a controlled defense item nor a dual-use item, according to Israeli law based on international arrangements.”

Probe Ordered

The US officials responsible for export-control enforcement declined to verify the findings, the outlet said.

However, the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security has launched an investigation into the matter.

Iran’s mission to the United Nations also avoided a direct response, saying that Tehran “is ready to meet with Ukraine at the level of technical experts and investigate drone- or parts-ownership claims.”

Export-Control Loopholes

Citing a report of the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security, The Wall Street Journal wrote that Chinese companies might be supplying Iran with counterfeit Western components essential to produce combat drones.

Industry and Western security officials said that many of the parts are not covered under export control and could have been bought on the internet and shipped to Iran through other countries, a violation of the law but difficult to prevent.

UK Ministerie van Defensie :

Latest Defence Intelligence update on the situation in Ukraine - 22 November 2022

pbs.twimg.com/media/FiJa8RGXgAAErX3?f...

(1/5) On 18 November 2022, multiple Russian and Ukrainian media outlets reported that an attack took place at an oil terminal in Novorssiysk port on Russia’s Black Sea coast. A major base of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet (BSF) is close to the oil terminal

(2/5) The BSF relocated many of its submarine operations to Novorssiysk after its Sevastopol base in occupied Crimea was struck by Ukraine over the summer. Russian commanders will likely be concerned about threats to the Novorssiysk-based amphibious landing ship flotilla.

(3/5) These vessels are relatively vulnerable without escorts and have assumed a more important role in supplying Russian forces in Ukraine since the Kerch Bridge was damaged in October.

(4/5) Full details of this incident are yet to emerge. However, any demonstration of a Ukrainian capability to threaten Novorssiysk would highly likely represent a further strategic challenge for the BSF.

(5/5) It would also further undermine Russia’s already reduced maritime influence in the Black Sea.

Just in time for Christmas. According to @Telegraph, Britain’s sending more Brimstone missiles primed to make Russian soldiers' lives hell. UK supplying its latest laser-guided rocket - doubling range of previous model - so I think range will be 40km.
