It's an untested area of the law, but impeachment for incitement to insurrection should stop Trump from being able to pardon anyone who helped commit the acts for which he is being impeached. That is a valid and important reason to impeach.

Those who committed homicide, planted bombs, assaulted the chamber (causing the death of their own alleged co-conspirator), and who dishonored the capitol in other ways must not be pardoned. Trump is already hinting he wants to and these people believed he would pardon them.

De mensen die het Capitol bestormden gingen er van uit dat Trum hen wel een Pardon zou geven.
Als deze impeachment procedure doorgaat kan Trump medeplichtigen aan zijn aanzetting tot en opstand niet pardonneren.

De bestorming van het Capitol was geen spontane actie.

Het was tot in details voorbereid , hoe binnen te dringen en welke kantoren moesten worden binnen getreden.

Ongeveer 100 diplomaten hebben Mike Pompeo opgeroepen om de recente gedragingen van Donald J Trump publiekelijk af te keuren. Bijzonder detail : Dit initiatief van diplomaten ontstond in een zgn Dissent Channel. Dat is een intern communicatiekanaal voor senior beleidsmakers waar medewerkers zonder vrees voor bestraffing of inperking van hun loopbaan, afwijkende meningen mochten aanbieden.

Het kanaal dat nu gebruikt is, werd voor het eerst intern gebruikt in de jaren 1960 tijdens de Vietnam-oorlog. De 100 diplomaten onderschrijven zelfs een tekst die Mike Pompeo zou moeten gebruiken (ongekend) :

"Donald Trump's oproep tot verzet tegen de certificering van de Amerikaanse vrije en eerlijke verkiezingen is onacceptabel en is een schending van onze wetten, onze democratische waarden en beschermde fundamentele vrijheden die zijn vastgelegd in de oprichtingsdocumenten van de USA, en onze lange traditie van vreedzame en ordentelijke overdracht van de macht."

Daarnaast vragen de 100 diplomaten om geen enkele quote van Donald J Trump te gebruiken aangaande de aanval op het Capitool, omdat Trump niet meer geloofwaardig is in deze zaak.

Deze mensen van het DOJ (Deppartment of justice) zitten er nog maar 12 dagen.

Daarna komt Joe Biden met zijn nieuwe Attorney General bij het DOJ, Merrick Garland.

Die zal wel een andere kijk op de zaken hebben.

Of Garland trump hiervoor daadwerkelijk gaat vervolgen is onbekend.
Hij heeft de keuze uit zoveel strafbare feiten van Trump, waardoor Trump de rest van zijn leven op water en brood mag zitten.

Twitter bevestigt dat het de twitterberichten van @ POTUS onmiddellijk weg haalt. Ze hebben tot deze ongebruikelijke maatregel besloten omdat het na een ban (van @realdonaldtrump) niet toegestaan is om de ban te omzeilen met andere twitter-accounts.

The seditionists made little secret of their violent plot in Instagram and Facebook posts in December, and there were MANY warning signs on extremist sites and mainstream social media that were ignored by law enforcement.

Extremists made little secret of ambitions to 'occupy' Capitol in weeks before attack

On Thursday, Washington Police Chief Robert Contee said at a news conference that there was "no intelligence that suggested there would be a breach of the U.S. Capitol."

A digital flyer made public on Instagram and Facebook in December made little secret of the ambitions of some of the people planning to visit Washington on Jan. 6: “Operation Occupy the Capitol.”

That call to arms is just one of the many warning signs on extremist sites and mainstream social media platforms that extremism experts say were easy to spot but ultimately disregarded by law enforcement in the runup to Wednesday's riot at the Capitol, which led to the deaths of five people, including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, 42, who was reportedly hit with a fire extinguisher during the melee.

Washington, D.C., Attorney General Karl A. Racine told MSNBC on Friday that “there were no surprises there” when it came to what extremists prepared to do before Wednesday’s siege.

"Everyone who was a law enforcement officer or a reporter knew exactly what these hate groups were planning," Racine said. "They were planning to descend on Washington, D.C., ground center was the Capitol, and they were planning to charge and, as Rudy Giuliani indicated, to do combat justice at the Capitol,”

On the fringe message board 8kun, which is popular with QAnon followers, for example, users talked for weeks about a siege of the Capitol, some talking about it like a foregone conclusion. Others simply debated how violent the uprising should be, and if police should be exempt.

"You can go to Washington on Jan 6 and help storm the Capital," said one 8kun user a day before the siege. "As many Patriots as can be. We will storm the government buildings, kill cops, kill security guards, kill federal employees and agents, and demand a recount.”

Some users pushed back. “Why kill cops and security guards? I was under the impression the enemies were the high government officials and the rest are uninformed masses?” The Network Contagion Research Institute, a nonprofit that tracks disinformation trends, cataloged some of the threats before the rally. They said there was a substantial uptick in insurrectionist hashtags both on extremist sites and on the open web, specifically a large bump in traffic around the hashtags “1776” and “Occupy” in the night before the rally.
