Cranfield University has appointed BAM FM to deliver HVAC maintenance to 260 buildings on its campus.
The new contract with the Bedfordshire-based university expands the higher education and university sectors portfolio for the nationwide total facilities management provider.
The five-year deal with the UK’s only post-graduate university, specialising in science, engineering, technology and management, includes the maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning units, refrigeration and building management controls across a mix of 260 old and new buildings. BAM FM’s energy division – BAM Energy – will also support the university’s energy management team to achieve its target of 5 per cent year-on-year reduction in energy consumption.
Kevin Drew, mechanical engineer at Cranfield University’s facilities department, says: “We are pleased to announce that BAM FM has been awarded the HVAC contract. We felt that BAM FM offered the best solutions after giving a precise understanding of the tender documentation at their presentation.”
The BAM FM team is now based on site, since 1 May 2017, and includes specialist technicians, managers and a CAFM coordinator. The site team will also take on an apprentice.
The contract includes provision for electric vehicles for use by the site-based maintenance team. An energy manager will work with the client to implement energy-reduction measures that will contribute towards the estate’s efficiency targets.
BAM FM has an established record of delivering mechanical and electrical maintenance services and soft services, including catering, cleaning, grounds keeping and caretaking, to educational facilities across the UK.
