Planning permission granted for 142€m Glasgow mixed-use development

Council planners have granted BAM Construct and Taylor Clark Properties planning permission to begin construction on the 142€m Atlantic Square development.

The development on a key site in the middle of Glasgow’s International Financial Services District, will comprise two commercial buildings of ten storeys (180,000sq ft.) and six storeys (80,000) sq ft respectively, with ground floor retail space in both.

A third building will comprise retail and residential accommodation.

BAM Properties development director Michael Smart said: “This is a strategic alliance between Taylor Clark which owns the site and BAM as a developer and contractor with a substantial track record in bringing attractive sustainable developments to the market.

“This project builds on our positive experience at our CONNECT110NS development in Queen Street. We have carefully researched the supply pipeline and have identified a strong undercurrent of demand from top grade companies and organisations. Together, we will create a state-of-the art development that will meet the requirements of forward thinking business tenants and investors.”

Taylor Clark Properties managing director Jon Brand commented: “A lack of Grade A space is limiting investment in the city and with rents stabilising we believe the time is right to combine our expertise to deliver this striking mixed use development.”

The design of the new development was undertaken by architects Cooper Cromar and will include the retained façade of the listed warehouse buildings on the site that were built in the early twentieth century.

The value of the completed development is estimated to be more than 142€m and its creation will support up to 2,750 jobs.

BAM invites local contractors to discuss Dundee V&A opportunities

V&A Dundee 1BAM is inviting local contractors and suppliers to breakfast on 14 August, so that they can find out about opportunities to work on the prestigious V&A at Dundee Museum.

The BAM team will be joined by some of the main subcontractors already working on site. “We want to meet local businesses in person to discuss the V&A Dundee programme and subcontractor packages,” said BAM construction manager Malcolm Boyd.

Deputy convener of policy and resources, Councillor Willie Sawers, added: “This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to see what opportunities are available in the construction of the magnificent V&A Dundee building.

“We are very keen that the construction of this world class building has as wide an economic impact locally as possible.

“This project will deliver jobs for the local area, including modern apprenticeships for young people.

“I am sure that many Dundee companies will be interested in attending this event.”

The free event, will run from 8.30 am to 10.30 am at the Invercarse Hotel, 371 Perth Road, Dundee DD2 1PG

It is one of the ways BAM, in partnership with Dundee City Council and V&A at Dundee, is engaging with local businesses to create as much local economic benefit as possible from the construction phase of the project.

en ze bouwden aardbevingbestendig toch in Van? Of waren dat andere bouwers?
Blij dat er in ons Noorden van lokale bouwers gebruik wordt gemaakt.
