TIE Kinetix N.V. (“TIE Kinetix”) announces that it signed a mutual cross sell partnership agreement with Objectif Lune International Inc. (“Objectif Lune”). The partnership combines Objectif Lune’s PlanetPress with the TIE Kinetix Business Integration suite of solutions.

TIE Kinetix offers a wide range of SaaS based solutions for Business-to-Business Integration that help automate the exchange of data between companies, which can save enormous amount of time and money.

Objectif Lune is the world’s largest independent provider of software solutions for document lifecycle management in the marketplace. PlanetPress suite of solutions helps creating new ways of composing, processing, tracking and storing any business document independent of hardware or software compatibility.

It is customary for large companies to automate the exchange of orders, invoices and shipment information with their trading partners in the supply chain. For smaller businesses, due to the volume of information and complexity, it is extremely difficult to participate in the automation process. Rather than integrating directly between systems, smaller companies typically mail or email orders and invoices in PDF format to their customers.

Mr. Jan Sundelin, CEO of TIE Kinetix said: “PDF documents can be cumbersome in order to retrieve the necessary information by software without human intervention. Even though Optical Character Recognition exists for a while, it still cannot provide 100% accuracy. On the other hand, manually adjusting documents still can create additional expenses, time and errors. By combining the two suites of solutions, customers of both TIE Kinetix and Objectif Lune are able to process, translate and integrate PDF documents automatically with 100% accuracy, regardless of the ERP system. Together we have already successfully implemented the solution with our first enterprise customer.”

Mr. Didier Gombert, CEO of Objectif Lune stated: "For many years, we have been addressing automated workflows related to documents lifecycles for large and small enterprises. We are extremely excited to add the TIE Kinetix Business Integration suite of solutions to our portfolio. This makes it possible for customers to exchange any kind of business document with their smaller trading partners who are not able to exchange information electronically from their business system.”

Shareholders of Objectif Lune have agreed next to this partnership, to become a financial partner of TIE Kinetix by participating in the private placement of TIE Kinetix for an amount of €750k. Mr Peter van Schaick, Supervisory Board member of TIE Kinetix is also member of the Board of Directors of Objectif Lune International Inc. and holds a minority share in Objectif Lune International Inc.

Mr. Didier Gombert said: “We are cementing the relationship by becoming a shareholder of close to 10%”.

Tie Kinetix (Hold): A partnership with potential

The facts: Tie has announced a mutual cross selling partnership with Objectif Lune, a global provider of software solutions for document lifecycle management.

Our analysis: Objectif Lune has its headquarters in Montreal, Canada and was founded in 1993. Its main products include PrintShop and PlanetPress, applications that allow for workflow and business process automation and document lifecycle management. Objectif Lune has over 23 offices globally with over 250 staff managing an installed base of 25,000 applications. Objectif Lune sells its solutions both through a direct distribution model and via partners, such as Konica, Canon/Oce, Ricoh and Xerox
The cross selling deal has the potential to become very interesting for Tie as its limited size and resources have hampered its ability to sign up new enterprise customers for its business integration application outside of the verticals in which it is well known (food retail, media, telecom). If the Objectif Lune workforce and partners are properly incentivized, there is a substantial installed base into which Tie solutions can be sold while the association with Objectif Lune will also strengthen the Tie Kinetix brand.
The partnership has gone off to a solid start as Tie and Objectif Lune have a already announced that they have signed up the first enterprise customer (no name or financial details available). However, one swallow doesn't make a summer but it is certainly a positive start.

Major Tie Kinetix shareholder van Schaik (a supervisory board member) is also a shareholder in Objectif Lune while Objectif Lune EMEA has recently participated in the Tie Kinetix share issue. Whether this will eventually lead to a complete take-over remains to be seen and is speculative although there are certainly similarities between Tie's BI product and the Objectif Lune product line up.

For now we do not change our estimates yet as we want to have additional evidence that the partnership is working. Our financial forecast (see the table on the left hand side) also does not yet include the impact of the acquisition of Tomorrow Focus Technolgies.

Conclusion & Action: Tie has announced a mutual cross selling partnership with Objectif Lune, a global provider of software solutions for document lifecycle management. The collaboration could provide a major boost to Tie Kinetix position in the Business Integration market where its size and lack of resources has resulted in a low success rate when targeting enterprise customers except for in certain verticals. A solid start has been made as Tie has announced that it has already signed up the first enterprise customer. One swallow doesn't make a summer but it is certainly positive. Hold maintained.
