Ik heb ergens gelezen dat als bitcoin onder de 20K gaat dan krijgt Microstrategy een margin call en zal bitcoins moeten verkopen wat op dat moment dus een onvoorspelbare paniek verkoop kan veroorzaken.

Coinbase gaat reorganiseren
Aandeel voorbeurs 6 procent lager.

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Coinbase gaat 18 procent van zijn personeelsbestand schrappen vanwege een te snelle groei van het bedrijf en om de kosten in de hand te houden. Dit meldde het Amerikaanse cryptoplatform dinsdag.

Coinbase waarschuwde voor de snel veranderende economische omstandigheden en de mogelijkheid van een 'cryptowinter'. In het verleden leidde dit tot een flinke daling van de handelsomzet, aldus Coinbase. Dat maakt het belangrijk om de kosten goed in de gaten te houden.

Het aandeel Coinbase leverde maandag ruim 11 procent in door de malaise op de cryptomarkt. Dinsdag lijkt het aandeel zo'n 6 procent lager te gaan openen.

Bitcoin daalt 5 procent en kost nu ongeveer 22.000 dollar.

No, MicroStrategy Is Not Facing Margin Call on Bitcoin Loan

MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor has refuted speculation about his company potentially facing a margin call on its Bitcoin loan.

The Bitcoin advocate has clarified that such a scenario won’t take place as long as the loan-to-value (LTV) ratio stays below 50%.

Prior to that, Saylor tweeted that MicroStrategy’s balance sheet was structured in such a way to weather extreme volatility.

The business intelligence firm took out a $205 million loan from cryptocurrency-focused bank Silvergate Capital in order to fund its Bitcoin purchases. Back then, Saylor claimed that his company had managed to turn the flagship cryptocurrency into a “productive collateral” after a striking deal with the bank.

MicroStrategy has 129,218 Bitcoins in its coffers, which are worth roughly $2.8 billion at today’s prices. The Tysons, Virginia-based company has lost roughly $1 billion on its failed Bitcoin bet.

In May, MicroStrategy President Phong Le warned that the company could face a margin call if the Bitcoin price were to drop below the $21,000.

Earlier today, the top cryptocurrency slipped to as low as $20,816 on the Bitstamp exchange.

“Obviously, expensive digital images of monkeys are going to improve the world immensely,” Gates said sarcastically while speaking at an event in Berkeley, California hosted by TechCrunch. He said he’s neither long nor short the asset class.

Gates has criticized crypto before, sparring with Elon Musk last year over whether Bitcoin is too risky for retail investors and the environmental harm of mining coins. Speaking Tuesday as the founder of Breakthrough Energy Ventures, the climate-focused fund he began in 2015, Gates noted the difficulty of recruiting Silicon Valley engineers to work in industries like chemicals and steel production in need of lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Bitcoin plunged more than 15% Monday and another 5.4% Tuesday, part of a broader crypto selloff fueled by higher than forecast US inflation and the halt of withdrawals by the lending platform Celsius. Popular NFT collections, including the celebrity-favored Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), are also being hit hard.

Gates also defended digital banking efforts he’s supported through his philanthropic foundations, which he described as “hundreds of times more efficient” than cryptocurrencies.

Michael Bloomberg, founder and majority owner of Bloomberg LP, is a backer of Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

Om verlies te maken met crypto moet men immers zijn momenten heel goed uitkiezen of het loopt fout en men staat op winst.

Ik had het daar over maximum 60000€ aan geldwaarde toen over de volgende periode van 5 jaar wat bij een gemiddelde inflatie van 2% 66244€ en bij 3% 69556 € zou zijn, hoewel de 5 jaar nog tot dec 2023 loopt lijkt het al bij al in € niet zo slecht berekend .
