Israelische soldaten krijgen Nederlands uniform

Polymer matrix composites to be largest segment of global automotive compos... (25-9-2015)

Asia-Pacific was the largest market for automotive composites in 2014, accounting for 50.8% market share, followed by Europe and North America, with 22.7% and 15.5% market shares respectively. The Asia-Pacific market is expected to account for 52.4% by 2022, as per MRRSE - Market Research Reports Search Engine. Rising domestic automotive production, especially in developing countries such as India and China, is expected to boost the Asia Pacific automotive composite market. The Europe market is expected to lose market share to reach 21.9% by 2022. However, the automotive composite market in North America is expected to marginally gain market share to reach 15.9% by 2022. The automotive composites market is divided on the basis of composite material (polymer matrix composites, metal composites and ceramic matrix composites), manufacturing process (manual, compression, injection and continuous and other), composite component (interior components, exterior components, engine and drive train components and others) in major region. The polymer matrix composites segment held the largest share in 2014 and was valued at US$ 2,728.6 Mn. The segment is expected to reach US$ 5,290.8 Mn by 2022, at a CAGR of 8.7% for the period 2015–2022. However, the metal composites segment is expected to exhibit the highest CAGR of 9.9% during the forecast period to reach US$ 1,203.4 Mn by 2022.
Concerns over increasing carbon emissions have led various industries to undertake various initiatives for environmental conservation. The automotive sector is one among the prominent sources of greenhouse gas emissions globally. Owing to environment deterioration various governments have formulated regulations or emission reduction targets. In order to achieve these targets, various automotive companies are focusing towards improving the fuel efficiency of vehicles. Use of lightweight materials for vehicle design or automotive weight reduction is the preferred strategy to improve the fuel economy of the vehicle. Advanced plastics, alloys,, and composites are some of the lightweight materials extensively utilized for automotive designs in order to reduce the weight of the vehicle. Composites being durable, light weight, corrosion resistant, easy to mold and high strength to weight ratio are becoming preferred lightweight materials for automotive designs.
Some of the major drivers identified in the market are growing preference for fuel-efficient passenger cars, improving vehicle aesthetics in order to achieve product differentiation, increasing vehicles production especially in Asia Pacific region, and stringent vehicle emission norms. Minor restraints identified in the market is relatively high cost of composites.
This is influencing automakers towards investing in the R&D of lightweight materials to manufacture the exterior and interior parts/components of the vehicle. This reduces the overall weight of the vehicle, in turn, improving its fuel efficiency. According to SuperLight-Car, Germany, around one-third of total fuel consumption by passenger cars depends on weight. For instance, weight reduction of the vehicle by 100 kg is expected to save 0.3 to 0.5 liters of fuel for every 100 km drive. Owing to increasing automotive production, especially in developing Asia-Pacific countries such as India and China, consumption of automotive composites has witnessed steady growth in the recent past. In 2013, there were 800 vehicles per 1,000 people in the U.S. compared to 600 vehicles per 1,000 people in Japan, 80 cars per 1,000 people in China, and 25 vehicles per 1,000 people in India.
The global automotive composite market is highly consolidated, with the top four companies accounting for about 70–75% market share. Toray Industries, Toho Co. Ltd., Mitsubishi, and SGL are the prominent players in the market. Other major players operating in the global automotive composites are Cytec Industries Inc., SAERTEX GmbH & Co. KG, Koninklijke Ten Cate N.V., Johns Manville, Johnson Controls, Inc., Scott Bader Company Ltd., Teijin Limited, E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, and UFP Technologies, Inc.

TenCate smoort schokgolf bermbom
donderdag 8 oktober 2015

The Future of Mine Blast Protection May Become a Reality in Fyn
Thursday, October 15, 2015 by General Dynamics European Land Systems
Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and land mines have developed into one of the biggest threats facing allied land forces.

In response, the development in protection systems for armoured vehicles has picked up rapidly and TenCate Advanced Armour Danmark (Vissenbjerg, Fyn) has become one of the world's leading providers of lightweight composite armour.

It started with an industry co-operation project in the 1990s. The future of mine blast protection systems may be become a reality in Fyn in co-operation with General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS).

When the Danish Army signed its first contract for armoured vehicles from GDELS's Swiss subsidiary MOWAG nearly 20 years ago, TenCate (at that time Roulunds Fabrikker and later on Roshield) supplied protection components for the PIRANHA 3 armoured vehicles delivered to the Army.

TenCate subsequently became a Tier 1 supplier for General Dynamics European Land Systems' EAGLE, DURO and PIRANHA platforms and has remained a top supplier of GDELS ever since.

TenCate Active Protection managing director Peter Bertelsen said: "TenCate started the development of composite based protection systems from scratch in the 1990s.

"Through our co-operation with Falck Schmidt Defence Systems, we were introduced to General Dynamics European Land Systems, and the industry co-operation programme worked as a catalyst and enabled us to develop technologies, which were highly effective and competitive on the global market."

In 2007, Roshield became a part of the Advanced Armour division of Dutch Textiles technology group Royal TenCate, a world leader in ballistic and blast protection solutions.

GDELS has remained a business partner for TenCate Advanced Armour Danmark, integrating the Danish company in its global supply chain and providing a steady revenue stream that has consolidated its position on the global market.

TenCate in Denmark employs 40 highly skilled employees, which successfully deliver protection solutions to the global defence industry.

GDELS International Business and Services senior director Jens Bauer said: "General Dynamics European Land Systems has satisfied on or ahead of schedule its industry co-operation obligations coming from our previous vehicle sales to Danish Defence, on schedule, and we have continued our co-operation and generated an additional 700 million kroner in revenue for Danish industry.

"We have done this because the Danish industry has proven to be innovative and competitive, and TenCate is an excellent example of that."

With regard to the acquisition of new armoured personnel carriers (APC) for the Danish Army, General Dynamics European Land Systems is prepared to take its Danish partnerships to the next level.

GDELS signed industry co-operation agreements with 40 Danish companies of all sizes and already defined projects in excess of 3.7 billion kroner covering all technology areas defined in the Danish government's defence industry strategy.

Among these projects are GDELS sponsored efforts to increase the efficiency of production processes of TenCate by introducing new automation technology at the factory of TenCate's in Vissenbjerg and to commercialise the future of mine blast protection technology in Fyn.

TenCate Active Protection, based on Danish patented technology developed the revolutionary Ten Cate ABDS active blast countermeasure system, which mitigates the effects of mines and IED blasts and is currently being tested by the US Army Research and Development, Engineering Command.

TenCate ABDS active blast countermeasure system may become a reality in Fyn.

Peter Bertelsen said: "We are extremely excited about our co-operation with General Dynamics European Land Systems and the integration of the TenCate ABDS active blast countermeasure system on GDELS' EAGLE 5 platform.

"It will be the first time an active blast countermeasure system is certified on a major platform, and it constitutes an enormous market potential for TenCate.

"Together with GDELS, we hope to bring this revolutionary technology to the market and increase the protection level for Danish and allied soldiers."

GDELS International Business and Services vice-president Thomas Kauffmann said: "GDELS believes in partnership and keeps pursuing its innovative long-term industrial growth strategy, which creates sustainable business and future export opportunities for our Danish industry partners.

"That makes the real difference to a project specific blue print production model."

Flame Resistant Fabrics Market Projected to be a US$4.8 billion, Globally by 2020: Transparency Market Research
ALBANY, New York, October 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

With tightening government regulations and policies increasingly being framed to improve industrial worker safety, the market for flame resistant markets will receive a forward push. The global flame resistant fabrics market is poised for a healthy CAGR of 6.7% in revenue terms between 2014 and 2020, says Transparency Market Research in its latest report. The market for flame resistant fabrics is expected to go from US$3.12 billion in 2013 to US$4.87 billion by 2020. The findings are discussed in detail in TMR's report, titled 'Flame Resistant Fabrics Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast, 2014-2020.' In terms of volume, the demand for flame resistant fabrics globally was estimated to be 298.2 million square meters.

Browse Market Research Report with ToC & Free Analysis: www.transparencymarketresearch.com/fl...

The two key drivers that are enabling the growth and expansion of the global flame resistant fabrics market are: a rising demand for such fabric from industrial facilities (especially the oil and gas industry) and a bevy of regulations being implemented worldwide to ensure safe working conditions in industrial facilities. While these drivers will enable the market to log a healthy growth rate, companies in the flame resistant fabrics market will need to find ways to bring down product prices so as to compete better with other conventional materials. Moreover, several growth markets in Asia Pacific still suffer from a lack of enough awareness pertaining to worker safety. This will likely slow down the adoption of flame resistant fabrics in these markets. The impact of these restraints could be alleviated to some degree by focusing on emerging countries, where the demand for protective clothing is steadily rising.

Get Sample of this Research Report: www.transparencymarketresearch.com/sa...

For the purpose of this study, the global flame resistant fabrics market has been segmented on the basis of application and region. Segmented thus, the applications studied are: Industrial protective clothing, transport, law enforcement and firefighting services, and others. Of these, industrial protective clothing accounted for over 50% of the cumulative demand for flame resistant fabrics globally.

The report studies the flame resistant fabrics market in the following regions: Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, and Rest of the World (RoW). Europe was the largest flame resistant fabrics market as of 2013, accounting for 35% of the global demand for flame resistant fabrics. Asia Pacific-thanks to the massive demand for industrial protective clothing here-was the second-highest consumer of flame resistant fabrics in the same year, and was trailed by North America. While industries in Asia Pacific will continue to create high demand for flame resistant fabrics, the North America flame resistant fabrics market is expected to register a CAGR of more than 5% through the report's forecast period.

Developing proprietary technologies is seen to be a widely adopted competition strategy in the global flame resistant fabrics market. Companies that have managed to do this have consequently risen to the top of the market. Some of the leading companies in the global flame resistant fabrics market are E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, Lenzing AG, Milliken & Company, Indura, Teijin Aramid and TenCate, Huntsman Corporation, and others. A number of small companies have also ventured forth into the global flame resistant fabrics market creating an unorganized market for these products, especially in the Asia Pacific region.
