CAPELLE AAN DEN IJSSEL (AFN) - Kaartenmaker AND heeft de eerste versie van een speciale kaart voor zelfstandig rijdende auto's gepresenteerd. Dat meldde de onderneming woensdag.
Het gaat om een kaart van de stad Schiedam, voor alle wegtypes. Het zeer nauwkeurige model van het wegennetwerk moet zelfrijdende auto's in staat stellen zeer nauwkeurig te manoeuvreren en de exacte positie te bepalen.
Topman Hugo van der Linde is trots dat het bedrijf nu de eerste kaarten kan presenteren volgend op onderzoek in de autosector rond de zelfrijdende auto. ,,Met de release van onze High Definition Autonomous Vehicle Map, een HD-kaart en een lokalisatiekaart, maken we autonoom rijden mogelijk in zowel de binnenstad als ook op snelwegen. Met deze kaart verwachten we meer contacten te kunnen leggen in de automobielindustrie'', aldus Van der Linde.

AMSTERDAM (AFN) - KPN draagt Edzard Overbeek, de topman van digitale kaartenmaker HERE, voor als commissaris. Dat werd vrijdag bekendgemaakt.

Voorzitter Duco Sickinghe van de raad van commissarissen roemt Overbeek onder meer om zijn kennis van de internationale communicatie-industrie en van trends in digitalisering.

Aandeelhouders kunnen zich op een buitengewone aandeelhoudersvergadering buigen over de benoeming, maar wanneer die plaats zal vinden is nog niet bekend.

Er zijn natuurlijk sterke banden tussen TomTom en Continental én TomTom en Bosch. Kan me niet voorstellen dat dit niét met TomTom-Tech gepaard zou gaan.
Het gaat met name ook over data en connected cars.

TomTom and Green Way Systems Team to Improve Traffic Safety

Amsterdam and Frankfurt, June 6 2017 – TomTom (TOM2) and Green Way Systems are proud to announce that TomTom has been selected to power Green Way Systems’ traffic information solutions. Green Way Systems will leverage TomTom’s live and historical traffic data throughout Europe. These solutions include: jam warnings, hazard alerts and variable traffic routing recommendations, displayed on variable message signs.

Baidu levert technologie autonoom autorijden aan Bosch

De Chinese techgigant Baidu heeft deze week contracten getekend met de Duitse bedrijven Bosch en Continental om technologie te leveren voor zelfrijdende auto’s.

Voor Baidu betekent dit een stap voorwaarts met zijn autotechnologie. Op de thuismarkt werden vorig jaar intensieve proeven gedaan met de Chinese automakers BYD, Chery en BAIC. De resultaten daarvan worden verwerkt in zijn nieuwe, open softwareplatform Apollo dat ook beschikbaar komt aan de nieuwe Duitse partners.

Het hoofddoel van de samenwerkingen, zo valt af te leiden uit de verklaringen van de concerns, is om Baidu’s eigen systemen beter te maken.

Bosch is bijvoorbeeld leverancier ook al bij Daimler, dat fors investeert in zaken als digitalisering en autonomisering van mobiliteit. Vorig jaar demonstreerde het zijn kunnen door een Tesla S zelfrijdend te maken. Continental is uitgekozen om zijn vakspecifieke kennis rondom kunstmatige intelligentie rondom mobiliteit.

Baidu had tot eind vorig jaar ook een samenwerking BMW, maar die staakten ze omdat – zo heette het formeel – de onderzoeksdoelen niet meer in lijn waren.
