In de USA als QIHU aan te schaffen, upgrade UBS naar 39 dollar. Baidu (marktleider in China) verliest zomaar 9% martkaandeel aan deze nieuwkomer.
Ik heb er maar eens een paar honderd gekocht op 32,60 kijken wat er gebeurt.

Qihoo Q2 Preview: Strong Mobile Game, PC Search Inflection Point

Qihoo 360 (QIHU) will report its second-quarter earnings before the market opens next Monday.

Analysts expect Qihoo to deliver strong growth in the mobile gaming sector. Here are Stifel Research‘s George Askew and Zim Yin:

According to the China Game Industry Committee (CGIC), Internet-connected China mobile game industry revenue topped RMB5.2 billion ($834 million) in 2Q14, growing at 262% y/y and 17% q/q. Of this, Android revenue topped RMB3.2 billion ($516 million, +310% y/y and +17% q/q).

According to CGIC, Qihoo’s 360 Mobile Assistant appstore was the leader in Android mobile games in 2Q14 with 30% user share. Qihoo also became the leading mobile game platform for the #1 casual game and #1 mid/hardcore game in 2Q14, representing 45% of play for each of mid/hardcore game DotA Legends and casual game Kaixinxiaoxiaole. Baidu-91 Wireless represented 32.9% and 29.0% of revenue respectively for these games according to CGIC.

Read-through from mobile game developers’ second-quarter earnings bodes well for Qihoo, which, as a publisher, hosts mobile games on its gaming platform. For instance, China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group (CMGE) recorded a 281% jump in revenue from a year ago (27.9% growth compared to the first quarter). CMGE’s shares rallied 16.3% yesterday. Another example: Singapore-based IGG (8002.HK) saw its second-quarter revenue grow 234% from a year ago (or 8% from the first quarter). Tencent Holdings (TCEHY/0700.HK), simultaneously a mobile game publisher and developer, reported strong mobile game growth as well.

In addition to mobile gaming, Qihoo’s PC search has reached an inflection point, reported Stifel Research:

According to Aug 19, 2014 CNZZ data, Qihoo had 30.0% search market share as measured by unique visitors versus Baidu (BIDU) at 52.6% and New Sogou (SOHU) at 14.1%.

This was the first time Qihoo’s PC search market share hit the 30% mark.

Qihoo has risen 11.5% this earnings season (August). Year-to-date, this stock is up 23.9%.
